On February 8, 2009 Heart Healthy Philadelphia and over 5,000 attendees took over Dilworth Plaza at Philadelphia’s City Hall for a day featuring free health screenings, cooking and fitness demos, nutrition presentations, 40 exhibitors and prizes. Over the course of the day hundreds of people received free screenings including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and Body Mass Index. Counseling was offered to those with results outside the normal parameters. On-stage Christina Pirello from Christina Cooks and Lisa Austin from the Basic Four Vegetarian Café in Reading Terminal conducted cooking demonstrations. Conshohocken’s Motivation Fitness demonstrated exercise techniques and the Academy of Social Dance displayed how to improve your fitness through dance.
